Dear Brick Township,

This is a request for public records made under OPRA and the common law right of access. I am not required to fill out an official form. Please acknowledge receipt of this message.

Records requested:

Copies of any revisions for Tax Map sheets 35, 35.01 (aka 35.A), 35.02 (aka 35.B), 45, 45.01 (aka 45.A) and 45.02 (aka 45.B) from tax maps on file from 1920-1980.

Thank you,

Resident

Jessica Larney, Brick Township

In response to your below request:

Please find the most recent tax maps for the sheets you requested.
Regarding revisions specifically during 1920-1980, that would require research which is not covered under the OPRA statute. If you have a specific year of a tax map you wish to obtain, we can see if we have that specific map.

Sincerely,

Hi Ms. Larney,

All of the tax map sheets you just sent have the date of October 1, 1950 listed on them (possibly the original date of all the maps), so I would like those. So please send the tax map sheets from the 1950 time frame.

Yours sincerely,

Resident

Dear Mr. Dickerson,

Confirming receipt of the requested tax maps. Is it possible to get the entirety of the 1950 tax map for the township in one OPRA request? Or is that too much to request at once? If so, I will file a new OPRA request for just some specific sheets.

Thank you,

Resident

Bryan Dickerson, Brick Township

Dear Resident,

You can request the entire 1950 Tax Map collection in an OPRA request but its not necessary. I can consider this request as part of OPRA 1665-21.

The problem is logistics. The 1950 Tax Map collection consists of 165 separate files totaling 244 MB in size. The easiest way to transmit this to you is via USPS or pick up in person. I can burn the entire set of tax maps onto a DVD-ROM and either mail it to you or you come in person and pick it up at the Municipal Building. Emailing the whole collection is more problematic. Again, this is 165 files and we are limited by our email server to 10 MB of data / attachments per email. So my best estimate would be 25 to 30 separate emails.

If you have specific tax map sheets that you are interested in, just let me know which ones you want and I will send them out just as I did with the previous six that I sent you.

Sincerely,

Bryan Dickerson

Dear Mr. Dickerson,

Thank you for the quick reply. I started using OPRA Machine last year and have done all my requests anonymously, so I need to do things via email. I'd be interested in these specific 13 sheets from the 1950 map, so if you could possibly send them in several emails, that would be great:

Sheets 34-C, 38, 38-A, 38-B, 39, 41, 43, 43-A, 47, 47-A, 60, 61, 61-A.

In the future, I'd also like to get these same sheets for once every decade or so. I don't know when tax maps are put out for the entire township (is there a set schedule?) If you could provide me the main years for the township tax maps that you have available, that would be great. In my next OPRA request, for example, I could order these tax map sheets from the 1920 time frame and 1930 time frame. I just need to know which specific year to request them from, or is it okay to just request a general "1920's" time frame.

Yours sincerely,

Resident

Bryan Dickerson, Brick Township

Good Morning Resident,

Later this morning, I will start sending you the tax map sheets that you requested from the 1950 set. The 1950 set is the oldest set of tax maps that we have on file, so I will not be able to provide tax maps from the 1920s and 1930s. As for the other decades, to the best of my knowledge there was no set schedule for updating the tax maps but I will try to get you what you need. No need to submit another OPRA request. I will just consider it part of the current request (which I have not closed out).

Good Morning Resident,

Attached are 1950s era tax maps that you requested.  Thus far, I have not
been able to locate Sheets 38A, 38B, 47A and 61A for the 1950s.  They may
not have been drafted until a later decade but I will keep looking.

Hi Mr. Dickerson,

Thanks for sending all of the requested information! Four items to check on:

1. My original request was for 35/35A/35B/45/45A/45B, so could you please send all of those sheets from the various decades.

2. The 1990 group that you sent was missing sheets 43 and 43-A. Could you please send those, if available.

3. Is there a 1950 tax map alphabetical street index (the streets listing what tax map sheets they are on)? If there is, could you please send those pages.

4. I see most of the 1950 maps you sent today also have the property owner's names listed on them. They were not included on the 35 & 45 sheets you sent last week. Are there any property owner files that you have available for the sheets that do not have them listed? Perhaps for the sheets that included smaller properties (such as those on 35 & 45), the property owners are listed on separate pages of the tax map book? The property record cards I have ordered in the past usually only go back to the 1960s time frame, but seeing you are the town archivist, I thought you might know if any additional info exists prior to then.

Thanks for all the help,

Resident

Dear Resident,

In response to your previous email, please find Tax Maps for 1990.  Please
note that 43A is now known as 43.01 after reclassification done in the
1980s.

Regarding Item #4 in your previous email, the 1950 Tax Map book does not
have a list of property owners.

Regarding Item #3, the 1950 Tax Map Book in our holdings does not have an
alphabetical list of streets.

Thank you for the 1990 maps, and for the info regarding items 3 & 4. I'll wait to hear back from you about item # 1.

Thank you,

Hi Mr. Dickerson,

Just checking in about the tax maps for sheets 35/A/B and 45/A/B. When we last spoke on November 3, I had mentioned I never received the 1970s-2010s decades for those 6 sheets. If you ever did respond, I never received your email. When you get a chance, could you please send those tax map sheets.

Also, did you ever have any luck finding a 1960's tax map for Brick?

Thank you,

Resident
