Dear Ocean County Clerk's Office,

This is a request for public records made under OPRA and the common law right of access. I am not required to fill out an official form. Please acknowledge receipt of this message.

Records requested:

1. Deeds from the years 1965-1969 where the grantee is Lewis/Lillian Kent.
2. Deeds from the years 1965-1969 where the grantee is Alice/James Longo or James/Alice Longo.
3. Deeds from the years 1965-1969 where the grantee is Herbert/Minnie Struening.

Thank you.

Saviet, Kim, Ocean County Clerk's Office

Do you know who they bought the property from (Grantor)?  The indexes do
not have a property description in them.  It just states the Grantee and
the Grantor names and the date the deed was recorded with the book and
page.  I found a deed in 1967 for Harden Homes to Lewis and Lillian Kent
(2675-150).  I also found a Deed from Laurelton Park Co to Alice and Games
Longo in 1968 (2782-4).  These names have been in previous deeds you
requested.  Are these the deeds you are looking for?

Unfortunately I found a deed in the 1965-1969 time frame into Herbert and
Minnie Struening from Hovsons which is in Dover Twp (2794-1).  That does
not seem like the area you were searching.

Thank you,

Kim Saviet

Hi Ms. Saviet,

These batch of deeds I am uncertain as to who the Grantor is, or what date the deed is. So it looks like you found the Alice/James Longo deed needed. Please send 2782-4. That should wrap them up.

The Struenings I am uncertain as to when they bought the Laurelton Park property. Laurelton Park Company might be the grantor, but it depends on what year they bought it. I only requested 1965-1969 in this batch in case they bought it then. I was going to request them in 5 year batches and do 1960-1964 next.

As for the Kents, they are the trickiest ones to find. Many of the deeds they filled out never have the data listed for the previous owners or when they bought it. Based on other deeds found, they seem to actually be the owners of Harden Homes, which they would sometimes sell to and buy back from. Like the Struenings, this particular deed might be prior to 1965.

So to make things easiest, please send the Longo deed (2782-4) and Kent deed (2675-150). I will make a new request now to check 1960-1964 for Struening and Kent deeds. If 2675-150 ends up being the correct deed, then you can disregard the 1960-1964 Kent deeds.

Thanks as always for your assistance!

At this point, you would need a title searcher for the Kent deeds,
especially if they are the owners of Harden Homes and they bought and sold
using both names.   You also have the choice of making an appointment and
coming in person to search the indexes then you would have to pull all the
deeds in their names and match the property description.  At the point
you're at, some of the deeds have subdivision lot and blocks and some just
have a property description with metes and bounds.  If you're not sure how
to do this, you will need to hire a title searcher.

Struening may need a title search as well.  I looked from 1961-1973 and
there was no deed from Laurelton Park.  I can't do a title search for
you.  There is a possibility they did not get it from Laurelton Park.

Attached is the deed to Alice Longo from Laurelton Park.

Thank you,

Kim Saviet
