Jan,

Frequently we receive OPRA Requests for “email server logs” for time
lengths from one month to several months and it has come to my attention
that the responsive document requires a more significant amount of time to
redact than I was aware of.

The Village has an ordinance in place that allows the applicant three
hours of redacting time and two hundred pages prior to being charged an
extraordinary fee for the response to an OPRA Request.  Therefore, any
redacting we perform under that amount of time would not be charged.  We
have found that the “email server logs” require approximately three hours
of time for a one week time span.

As I did not provide you with advance notice of any charge for the
redacting OPRA Request for the log for the month of October 2020, and the
redacting is nearly completed, there is no charge.  The Village Clerk’s
Office requires an extension of time and will respond on Tuesday, March
23, 2021.

However, I will email you regarding your pending requests and my concern
for providing the documents to you in the most efficient and cost
effective manner.  I would like to speak with you if you might find a
moment to call.  Thank you.
